What is HB 864/SB 832?

A bill amendment has recently been filed for HB 864 and SB 832, which clarifies that a renovation or improvement of any facilities – even ones that require demolition – would only need a simple majority of the Metro Council for approval. 

This means Metro Council would only need 21 votes in order to demolish anything compared to the current 27 votes needed putting the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and all our hard work at risk.

This amendment, with the support of Save Our Fairgrounds, comes after a recently stated position by Metro Council that would require a supermajority vote for any changes made to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

This amendment is a crucial step in the lease agreement process, and we need to urge our state legislators to support this bill and help us restore the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway!
